Circularity - At The Center Of The NLCRC’s Vision and Purpose
The NLCRC’s vision is to accelerate the achievement of packaging recycling solutions for the petroleum packaging industry to drive circularity. For the NLCRC, we refer to circularity as packaging products that can be renewed or regenerated, versus wasted. When products and their packaging are used, it then must be recycled or re-used in a way that allows it to go back into the supply chain (either as packaging or other use) – a closed-loop usage model.
The NLCRC’s purpose is achievable due to collaboration of its members with representation from various stages of the packaging value chain – a foundational component of the NLCRC. These components are reflected in our member base and within the coalition’s working groups, including Brand Owners, packaging manufacturers, recyclers, waste haulers, and others.
Beginning in 2024, our near-term success criteria for our members include:
An understanding of how packaging-related legislative activities impact the petroleum and related products value chain and the members are collectively aligned on participation and other activities in this space.
Collaborating on projects that optimize value chain capabilities to accommodate the recovery and recycling of packaging for petroleum and related products utilized in transportation and industrial applications.
Clearly defining the technical requirements and quantification of the financial aspects to achieve circularity with relevant packaging materials.
The collective learnings and best practices of the NLCRC are shared openly with the market to facilitate and accelerate the transformation from end-of-life disposition to recycling of Industry packaging.
The NLCRC continues to grow its membership, with representation from across the circular packaging value chain for petroleum and related products.
