How Your Corporate ESG Strategy and Lubricant Container Recycling Go Hand in Hand

Every business operation is intertwined with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) concerns. A strong ESG proposition can create value for the company and for the society where it operates. ESG is an inextricable part of how the business operates. The environment, the social factors, and the extent to which the company has good governance are linked in the sense that it affects the license to operate within the external world.

However, an ESG strategy has not been a priority for many companies historically, but the dynamic is changing. Consumers are demanding high standards of sustainability from businesses. Regulators and policymakers are more interested in ESG because they need the corporate sector to help them solve social problems such as environmental pollution.

The NLCRC is an industry-led technical coalition of lubricant manufacturers, plastic packaging manufacturers, and other lubricant value chain experts, and it is an impact-driven solution for the petroleum-related packaging industry that many companies see as providing a direct and positive impact on their business operations. The purpose of the NCLRC goes in line with providing ESG results for its member companies.

The NLCRC is committed to bringing brands and value chain participants together in an equal partnership to create and inspire a well-defined path forward in driving the recycling of plastic lubricant containers within the United States to create a sustainable, economically driven end-of-life solution for plastic (HDPE) packaging.

With the attention earned by EPR legislation in the United States in 2021, there is an opportunity for the lubricant container industry to come together under a unified approach and collaborate to build the path forward to bring the change needed for recycling hard-to-degrade plastics such as lubricant containers.

By being part of the NLCRC, companies can achieve a measurable, positive impact on environmental and social drivers for plastic waste prevention that can be leveraged as a member and goes in line with ESG concerns.

From industries to households, everyone has an essential role in reducing the lubricant container waste problem in the US. Our founding leaders include Castrol, Valvoline, Pennzoil - Quaker State Company, Graham Packaging, and Plastipak Packaging. Learn how the NLCRC is addressing the waste problem by becoming a member.
