Recap of the NLCRC’s Member Meeting and Planning Session – Spring 2024

During the 7th and 8th of May, the National Lubricant Container Recycling Coalition (NLCRC) members held the first member meeting and planning session of the year in Lexington, Kentucky. 

The NLCRC recognizes that collaboration between the industry members has been critical to better address the petroleum packaging recycling challenge. Therefore, during this session, the NLCRC discussed and aligned on key initiatives, such as the petroleum packaging sector’s response to the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) implementation per state and defining how to help members receive clarifying information to close knowledge gaps created or exacerbated by the passing of the EPR laws.

Additionally, the members discussed the technical projects to explore value-chain solutions to improve packaging sustainability and, develop collaborative (multi-member) technology enhancements and innovations to packaging that will help reduce the impact of the industry risks from a changing legislative context. 

The National Lubricant Container Recycling Coalition or “NLCRC” is an industry-led coalition funded by a committed consortium of value chain stakeholders focused on establishing solutions for the recovery and recycling of packaging for petroleum-based and related products utilized in the transportation and industrial applications Industry.
