The NLCRC Workstreams Series: Legislative Monitoring, Assessment and Advocacy Group

The National Lubricant Container Recycling Coalition (NLCRC) has started 2024 with a new focus on our strategic priorities. These are based on a member-wide reassessment of our purpose, vision, and three-year objectives, which can all be found on the NLCRC website.

This new focus for the NLCRC includes a revision to its key workstreams, which will support the core three-year objectives of the NLCRC. One of these objectives is that the NLCRC thoroughly understand how packaging-related legislative activities impact the petroleum and related products packaging value chain. As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, most notably with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws, the NLCRC will continue to focus on monitoring new legislation and preparing for changes to existing packaging laws and any policymaking that occurs. Our focus will also highlight any key potential responses regarding future legislation, including EPR, PCR, or other laws with the potential to impact the industry.

This workstream is working towards staying informed on the US legislative context, gathering perspectives on other industries’ responses to EPR, and compiling relevant information to keep the NLCRC better informed of the EPR changing context.

The National Lubricant Container Recycling Coalition or “NLCRC” is an industry-led coalition funded by a committed consortium of value chain stakeholders focused on establishing solutions for the recovery and recycling of packaging for petroleum-based and related products utilized in the transportation and industrial applications Industry.
