Why Become A NLCRC Member

Helen Keller said it best, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."

Addressing a challenge as complex as recovering post-consumer plastic packaging for recycling is not feasible for most individual companies, particularly when products are distributed throughout multiple regions and markets. Cost-effective solutions require collaboration with multiple stakeholders (including competitors), both upstream and downstream of the lubricant value chain.

Traditionally we have seen individual companies or entities implement solutions at various points along the value chain, many of which can be effective to that individual; however, the scale of this problem is far beyond the reach of one single company. We believe in the concept of shared value, and as we engage with each stakeholder, we need to work with them to understand how they connect to the value chain, and how they may extract value from the system. This value proposition certainly requires some progressive thinking and patience, but we are seeing lots of interest in solving this problem collectively, versus a multitude of ‘one-offs.’

Given that, collectively, we have an opportunity to drive solutions for post-consumer recovery and recycling of plastic lubricant containers. By joining this Coalition you will unite with other companies that produce lubricants and related packaging to speak as a single voice for the industry; to deliver results by creating systemic, collaborative solutions for post-consumer recovery and recycling; and to prevent legislative action that will lead to value chain disruption.

The benefits of membership include:

  1. Reduced business (revenue) risk by implementing programs that address emerging legislation concerns (i.e., EPR or bans) that affect business operations and growth.

  2. Greater insights and increased visibility of lubricant customers, which not only strengthens the supply chain through improved relationships but promotes interactions through projects.

  3. Industry intelligence through networking events, research, and collective action.

  4. Enhanced brand value and public awareness by implementing solutions that are visible, environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.
